Department of Agricultural Meteorology
The Department of Agricultural Meteorology, Assam Agricultural University (AAU), traces its origin to the Department of Physics & Mathematics, established in 1948 along with the inception of the Assam Agricultural College.
In 1974, the department was renamed as the Department of Physics, Mathematics including Statistics. Subsequently, in 1988, it was reorganized into two independent departments, the Department of Agricultural Meteorology and the Department of Agricultural Statistics.
Since its establishment, the Department of Agricultural Meteorology has been actively engaged in quality teaching, research, and development activities, focusing on weather-based agricultural advisory services, climate analysis, and agrometeorological applications for sustainable agriculture.
